London - Munich

We have arrived in Munich which is only 1.5 hours by plane but which has taken us all day to reach because of weather issues, cancelled flights and people checking on baggage and then not boarding the plane. We expected to leave at 1:20 pm but our plane didn't actually fly until around 4 pm. Then we were in a holding pattern at Munich for about an hour before finally landing. We got the train into central Munich where it was foggy and cold. There's a little bit of snow on the ground. We reached Paul and Maritza's at 8 pm and were greeted warmly by Paul and Jackson (their son). Maritza and Zara (their daughter)are currently in NZ and Paul and Jackson are flying out tommorow to meet them leaving us with their wonderful apartment to house-sit. Wish there was more to say at this stage but all we've really seen is airports and fog today.

Hi Mark and Damian
I've just had another catch-up with the Blog - great stuff! I really enjoyed reading about your family, Damian and your nostalgic visits, especially the tree with your name on it! The snow around was impressive! Mark, so glad you heard some singing you enjoyed and found lots of reasonably-priced winter nosh - it made me hungry! As for our unfortunate day getting to Munich, sort of par for the course weatherwise, I suppose, but as for people loading luggage and then not boarding, what's with that!! Perhaps they gave up because of the delays, or they mixed up with the cancelled flights? I will look forward to the next episode and some pics from Germany. Don't get too exciting about me asking for your address ... just a card and letter and even that may be running too late!! We will have to do Christmas later ... Lots of love, S. xx
