London

Our last full day in London. We were slow to rise again today (may have been an after effect of the whiskey). We headed into the city where we had a coffee at the Monmoth Coffee Company – one of the few places in England where they know what a flat white is. Afterwards we bought tickets to see Carousel in the evening and went to St Martins-in-the-fields for lunch. Lunch takes place in the crypt below the church. It’s a very unusual venue with their being tombstones beneath your feet. We both had a very nice Christmas pudding although there wasn’t very much Brandy in the Brandy Sauce. Afterwards we wandered through town looking for a farewell thank you gift for Stanley before returning home to relax before the show. Carousel was on at the Savoy Theatre. We had a very nice, possibly even healthy, dinner at a place called Leon’s which was close by. When we got to the theatre we were told that your tickets had been changed and because the seats didn’t look as good we complained and were moved into some very flash middle of the stalls and centre stage seats. Overall the show was pretty good with good singing and a good orchestra. A special highlight was a cameo appearance by Michael Crawford. We returned home via the bus and now we’re off to bed since it will be an early start tomorrow.
