Munich - day 6

Today we caught the bus into the city centre and walked up one of the better shopping streets called Sendlinger Strasse. Of course we stopped for gluwhein and bratwusrt on the way. A short distance up the street on the left is a small church called Asamkirche. It was built in the 1700's and is an example of bavarian baroque architecture. It was spectacularly decorated with carvings of cherubs and other religous figures. It was built as a private church by the Assam brothers and lies in the middle of the shops - quite out of place. It was a stark contrast to the austere Frauenkirche. We stopped at a cafe along Sendlinger Strasse before continuing on to have a look at the Marianplatz and surrounding streets particularly those above the town squrare which we hadn't visited so far - slightly more upmarket. We explored the surroundings before returning back home. More 24 in the evening
